A beautiful finely woven kete using customary techniques and materials.
This kete is created using the finest muka fibre from inside the harakeke plant (NZ Flax). it has been extracted by hand and gently plied to create the fibres for weaving. The fibre has then been dyed in a waiwai (natural tree bark mordant) and then immersed in paru (black mud) to create the beautiful black colour.
The kete is woven using the customary whatu technique of hand weaving used on traditional kākahu (cloaks)
