A series of beautiful pou depicting the different types of decorative elements found on kākahu (cloak) of old.
Each pou is woven in muka, harakeke (NZ Flax) fibre processed by hand to create beautiful silky threads for weaving. The black colour has been obtained by boiling in waiwai (mordant) and then immersed in paru (mud). The pou stand on a base of Kahikatea, a beautiful strong native tree. Or can be hung on the wall.
This pou has raukura (feathers) attached. These are emu feathers as they are the only commercial feather available that look like kiwi feathers
